2 – The Story Behind The Astrid

Our story begins with the Sherman family, who quickly fell in love with Steamboat Springs with each mountainside vacation.

Myles, Terrell, and their three children grew fond of Steamboat’s vast collection of parks, array of incredible restaurants, and endless opportunities for adventures in nature. Each trip to Steamboat felt effortless and intimate, a great contrast to daily life in a crowded city.

As the Sherman children grew into adulthood, and their busy lives led to less frequent time together as a family, Myles and Terrell realized that they needed a desirable gathering place where their loved ones could continue to get together and make precious memories. They wanted to cultivate a home-away-from-home experience that would guarantee adventure, entertainment, and relaxation for their whole family for years to come.

Over ten years ago, Myles and Terrell Sherman purchased their home in Steamboat Springs and embarked on the adventurous lifestyle that’s unique to Steamboat Springs. The family made many precious memories in the heart of Steamboat Springs, from the birth of grandkids in the nearby hospital, daily visits to the historic library, life-long friendships formed over exercise classes, and, most noteworthy of all, their daughter’s wedding day celebrated right within the walls of their home.

Steamboat was solidified as somewhere of profound significance for the Shermans. It became a place to build a legacy that would be passed down through the generations.

In 2021, Steamboat’s multi-million dollar base area redevelopment and on-mountain improvement project ‘Full Steam Ahead’ began, helping to secure Steamboat as one of the top resort destinations in the world. With physical and emotional ties to the city, Myles wanted his family to play a role in this transformation and contribute to the incredible evolution of Steamboat Springs.

In that moment, a dream named ‘The Astrid’ was born.

3 – The Astrid’s Role in Steamboat’s Expansion

Alterra Mountain Co., the owner of Steamboat Ski Resort, is in the final phase of a remarkable $220-$300 million makeover on and around the mountain dubbed ‘Full Steam Ahead’.  This unprecedented investment into the Steamboat Ski Resort has one overarching aim – to see Steamboat become one of the premier ski destinations in the world, benefitting both visitors and locals alike.

The project has ensured that the amenities available at Steamboat match the quality of the area’s high-caliber snow sports, unparalleled terrain, and friendly community. Steamboat’s rejuvenation project will be remembered as a cornerstone moment in Steamboat’s history, as this expansion will see Steamboat becoming the second largest ski resort in Colorado.

The Astrid’s condominium project will enable vacationers, like you, to enjoy a luxury home-away-from-home experience right in the heart of Steamboat’s improved ski resort.

We’re excited to participate in the ongoing eco-friendly initiatives in Steamboat Springs because we feel a great sense of responsibility for our mountainside home and the wildlife that we share it with.

Here are some of the ways we’re prioritizing our environmental responsibility:

  • We’ve chosen to install triple pane windows throughout the property to increase energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
  • Interiors are furnished with ethically made furniture and décor, sourced from a group of mostly female artisans who are paid fair, livable wages.
  • Lush landscaping and native tree planting enhance the natural beauty and sustainability of our mountainside property.
  • As a NGBS Green Certified property, The Astrid strives for excellence in energy, water, and resource efficiency, as well as lot development, operation and maintenance, and indoor environmental quality.
  • The property meets the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC).

Here at The Astrid, we’re privileged to contribute to the ongoing sustainability initiatives in Steamboat Springs. We recognize that for our contributions to make a lasting impact, we must continuously commit to minimizing our environmental impact wherever possible. It is not a responsibility we take lightly.
