Shopping for Christmas gifts can sometimes feel overwhelming, but not in The ‘Boat. There are dozens of luxury boutiques, custom designers, and art galleries to ensure you won’t leave without finding that perfect Steamboat Springs gift for everyone on your list. (You might even find something for yourself on the way!)

At The Astrid, we believe that combining luxurious ideas with environmentally friendly materials and practices results in the highest quality products. Knowing the processes behind our favorite shops in Steamboat allows us to feel good about what we’re buying. It’s important that our values are aligned with the people and companies we decide to purchase from.

We’ve curated this list of Steamboat Springs gift ideas from the stores and artisans we love and support when we’re doing our own Christmas shopping. We hope that you find them just as wonderful as we do!

For the Western Aficionado

Haus of CuCu

This store creates custom boots by hand using a 200-year-old process. You’ll have a personalized appointment to measure the wearer’s feet, select the hide and color combination, and work with the designer to sketch your unique vision for the boots. These truly become wearable works of art as beautiful as they are durable.

The owner, Margot, is a Yampa Valley local. Her passion for leathercraft began in a Routt County teen program. She is proud to carry on this lost craft and ignite the love of ranching traditions in all who visit her shop.

Steamboat Hatter

A custom-fitted and authentic hat is the ideal gift for any cowgirl or cowboy pursuing their dreams in Steamboat. These hats are handcrafted using age-old techniques and blocked, sanded, and shaped before your eyes in the store.

There are always about 150 hats in stock that can be fully personalized and even re-fitted to become your perfect all-weather accessory. These hats can be taken home the same day, while a hat built from scratch will normally take about 2 – 4 months to produce.

This company even provides after-hours workshops, hosts events, and off-site design workshops. You can host the perfect wedding party or bachelor(ette) party here and create a one-of-a-kind souvenir from your special day.

F.M. Light & Sons

This iconic store has been in business for over 100 years and is the go-to place for finding an authentic Steamboat Springs gift for any Western lover on your list. One of our favorite things about this store is its commitment to the bettering of the town and keeping the family business alive. (It’s now run by the 5th generation – the great-great-granddaughter of Frank Light!)

Outfitting local ranchers since 1905, F.M. Light & Sons has always built their brand on the philosophy of providing quality merchandise at fair prices. With brands ranging from Woolrich to Ugg to Stetson, there’s bound to be a piece of clothing that will make the perfect gift.

When you visit, don’t forget to take the time to learn about this Steamboat family’s legacy and even take a ride on Lightning!

Spur Ranch Jewelry

This family-run business blends 40 years of Caribbean jewelry tradition with 100 years of Wyoming raching history to create a unique style that you won’t find anywhere else.

Based in Steamboat Springs, the flagship store, Impulse, displays handmade sterling silver pieces using various stones like Turquoise, Opal, and Larimar. Bold designs are the hallmark of this company and include cuff bracelets, elaborate necklaces, and colorful rings. You’re guaranteed to make a statement when wearing any item from this collection.

For the Outdoor Adventurer

One Stop Ski & Cycle

The name One Stop has returned to Steamboat and is continuing the legacy started in the 1980s. Opened by a local couple in June 2024, they’re bringing back the iconic business and focusing on providing guests with a custom boot fitter in-store, top-of-the-line ski and snowboard gear, and clothing to keep you warm on the slopes.

They offer Revel bikes, a Colorado brand, and a full array of cycling equipment and clothing. Whether you need a gift for a summer or winter enthusiast (or both!) this is the store to build the perfect set of gear for every adventure.

Backdoor Sports

Since 1986, Backdoor Sports has been providing Steamboat residents with everything they need to explore the great outdoors. Owned by the Van de Carr family, this local shop is passionate, and highly knowledgable, about backcountry adventuring in the Yampa Valley.

For the person on your list who loves to take the path less traveled, this is where you’ll find the gift to make their journey more extraordinary. From Alpine Touring skis to ice climbing boots, and all the gear you’ll need to create the ultimate campsite, Backdoor Sports has you covered.

Steamboat Flyfisher

For the water lover on your list, this shop carries all the equipment you’ll need for a perfect day on the Yampa River. A full selection of fishing rods, bait and tackle, and clothing from brands like Patagonia await you in this riverside store.

If you’d like to gift an unforgettable experience instead, look no further. The experienced staff offers guided flyfishing, ice fishing, and hunting trips in the Yampa Valley. Any of these tours will no doubt be one of the most memorable presents under the tree this year.

The Silver Spur

For the hunter in your life, look no further than Sarah Buckles Larner, who has been producing one-of-a-kind jewelry in Steamboat Springs for over 35 years.

She uses the highest-quality metals and precious stones to create everything from wedding bands to belt buckles. A specialty of Sarah’s, and a very rare item to find, is Elk Tooth jewelry. The majority of custom orders come from hunters looking for a refined way to create a memento of a particular elk or hunt.

Sarah is one of the few high-end jewelers working with elk teeth, she has even fashioned pieces for Jeff Bridges to wear in a movie. These pieces are all handmade and designed with the customer to ensure the final product is one they’ll cherish.

For the Foodie

The Homesteader & Daniela’s Chocolates

This family-run store is home to fine housewares and kitchen utensils, but it is also the location of one of the finest chocolatiers in the state. Daniela’s Chocolates are made in-house, by the owner, and Switzerland native, Daniela Kennedy.

Indulgent truffles, turtles, toffee, roasted nuts, popcorn, and other seasonal goodies can be found at this downtown shop. Let the heavenly scent of chocolate take you through the store, as you browse the vast collection of local artisan pieces and pick up a delicately wrapped treat for a wonderful stocking stuffer.

WildPlum

Bringing Goodness Elevated™ to the Steamboat community, WildPlum boasts an incredible selection of exquisite, hand-picked items to indulge in this holiday season. Their Liquor Store features over 700 varieties of wine, beer, and spirits, alongside a grocer that focuses on supplying specialty sauces, local jams, and other delectable treats.

An Eatery on-site provides fresh and convenient breakfast and lunch menus with unparalleled views of Mt Werner from a cozy fireside steps from the gondola. WildPlum also offers a variety of catering options to accompany your holiday festivities.

Steamboat Winery

Using grapes from Sonoma and Napa, Steamboat Winery has been crafting crisp whites, full-bodied reds, and even a non-alcoholic sparkling grape juice since 2017.

Drawing on the local skiing and ranching culture, the wines are all aptly named to pay homage to these deep-rooted traditions. Slopeside Chardonnay, Rodeo Merlot, and Ranch Dog Rose are just a few of the wines in their collection.

Gifting these wines by the bottle or as a Wine Club membership will be adored by the wine lover on your list. You can even book a private, in-home wine tasting with charcuterie for a more intimate and personalized experience.

Steamboat Coffee Company

Sourcing the highest quality, and ethically produced, coffee beans from around the world and roasting them to perfection in Steamboat is the cornerstone of this local company.

Sign your loved one up for a monthly subscription to receive delicious ground or whole bean coffee right to their door. Or purchase the holiday gift pack which includes a bag of coffee, a cap, and a hoodie for $60. These coffee blends are smooth and rich in flavor – the perfect way to enjoy a cold winter’s morning in Steamboat.

For Something Different

Rocky Mountain Day Spa & Luxe Boutique

A spa gift certificate is the perfect gift for anyone looking to relax this holiday season. From hot stone massages to body scrubs, your gift can be turned into the ultimate luxury experience.

Steamboat Resort Store

Take a piece of this iconic mountain resort home with you. For those on your list who live for the winter in The ‘Boat, a gift from Steamboat Resort is the best gift. From socks with a map of the ski trails, to a golden gondola ornament, and even a plush of Powder The Safety Dog, you can’t go wrong with anything from this extensive collection.

Wild Horse Refuge

This is an excellent gift for any animal lover on your list. The Wild Horse Refuge provides 23,000 acres of protected grassland for wild horses – making it the largest Mustang sanctuary in North America.

A truly unique offering is the ability to adopt a horse living within the refuge. The monthly (or yearly) donation covers the animal’s care and veterinary services, ensuring they live the best life they can. Another wonderful gift idea is purchasing an acre of land to add space to the sanctuary.

The refuge is in Craig, which is a short drive from Steamboat, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to see your horse galloping freely through the sprawling fields of the Yampa Valley.

Snowcat Skiing

Take a ride into the ski areas behind the trees, where the snow is untouched and the only people you’ll see are the ones in your private group.

Embark on the trek uphill in a spacious and sturdy Snowcat for a deep powder ski run through Steamboat’s backcountry. The company provides pick-up and drop-off services to your accommodations, an experienced guide, hot breakfast and lunch, and free professional photos (digital downloads) of your time on the slopes.
