Tread of Pioneers Museum’s Lulie Crawford Wildflowers & Water

What: Indulge in a wonderful tribute to local pioneer artist Lulie Crawford. Experience the inspiring story of Lulie and her pioneering family, followed by an exclusive watercolor session led by professional artist Dona Steele from the Steamboat Art Museum. Participants will then create their own wildflower watercolor masterpieces, just as Lulie did.

This complimentary program is held at the picturesque Yampa River Botanic Park. All painting supplies are generously provided by the Tread of Pioneers Museum, and no reservations are needed. The event is open to participants aged 6 years old and up.

When: August 6, at 10.30 a.m. – 11.30 a.m.

Joggers & Lagers at Mountain Tap Brewery

What: Head to Mountain Tap Brewery for biweekly non-competitive social fun runs. Professional trail runner David Norris will provide two routes: an easy jaunt for beginners, and a more challenging run for those who want to push themselves. All participants will receive a free beer or soda ticket to redeem after the run.

When: August 7, August 21, September 4, and September 18, at 6 p.m.

What: Head over to the beautiful Yampa River Botanic Park every Wednesday morning for a free concert. With concerts lasting just 45 minutes, it’s the perfect way to enjoy a summer morning.

Guided Nature Walks

What: Join the Yampatika team for a guided hike through the Steamboat Ski Resort at the Creekside Trail. Learn about the dimension of human-wildlife conflict here in the Yampa Valley, as well as ways you can help. This guided hike will focus on cohabitating with bears, moose, elk, birds, and other wildlife you may frequently see here in Steamboat. This event will help you learn how to become a better wildlife neighbor.

When: Every Thursday in August, at 9.15 a.m.

Steamboat Farmers Market

What: The Main Street Steamboat Farmers Market, presented by FM Light & Sons, is held every Saturday until September 21. The market features 150 vendors, with exciting new offerings every week. The Main Street Farmers Market has everything you need to prepare a gourmet meal for your family, from Buffalo, chicken, beef, seafood and trout, to specialty sauces and great deserts and of course booth after booth of fresh veggies. Sprinkled throughout the market you will find local artisans, entrepreneurs, non-profits, the city council, food demos, tent talks, and kids crafts.

When: Every Saturday until September 21, at 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Movies on the Mountain – Back to the Future

What: At sunset, invite your friends and family to bring their lawn chairs and blankets to the Steamboat base area for a magical evening of movies and entertainment.

While enjoying the movie, indulge your taste buds with a variety of snacks and Coca-Cola beverages available for purchase. Whether you’re in the mood for popcorn, candy, or a cool drink, the concessions stand will have you covered throughout the evening.

The final movie screened as part of this series is ‘Back to the Future’.

When: August 10, at 8.50 p.m.

Continental Divide Trail Race

What: For an exciting summer challenge, join the Continental Divide Trail Run at Steamboat Resort and USFS trails. Choose between the demanding 50K, perfect for those preparing for the Run Rabbit Run, or the 16M, offering a unique distance with stunning views and 90% of the climbing. A new challenging 5-miler ensures the whole family can participate. This race supports local trails, donating $5000 to $7000 each summer. Limited spots available due to USFS caps, so secure your place soon!

Yampa Valley Crane Festival

What: The 13th annual Yampa Valley Crane Festival celebrates the majestic Greater Sandhill Cranes as they migrate through the Yampa Valley. You can expect guided crane viewings, expert speakers, films, bird and nature walks, workshops, live raptors, children’s activities, and more!

When: August 29 – September 1, at 9 a.m. – 7.30 p.m.
